(tell me) what it takes
from the last two weeks of December to now have been a blur, in so many ways that i have no way to describe most of them. my chef got the axe for personal reasons on 12/28, therefore bumping me up the chain of command to his position. January doesn't really exist as i got little sleep due to various dramas in the house i live in. one of my housemates, who was also a manager at my restaurant ended up unemployed, again because of personal reasons. i spent a night in county the first week of February, also for personal reasons (but no charges!), got a new (old) car that will soon be legal, and i finally got a sous chef of my own this last week.
in between i've been stuck with a food cost that's out of control and a few employee issues, as well as the ongoing training of my sous, but at least things seem to be looking up. St. Pat's is around the corner, not even two weeks away now, and i'm trying to gear up for the potential sales of $40K on one day, so at least that continues to keep things interesting.
i still have no personal life, and in fact it's even worse now because i destroyed my phone for the third time in a year and have yet to get a replacement. i was just beginning to get back in contact with the family and far flung friends too... spent the first two weeks of February talking every other night with the girl back in PA, for whatever reason i don't know.
and that's it. i could probably tell more, like the drama that surrounded my chef escaping from this city back to CA (and this took the entire month of January and also involved the other manager who lost their job), or the various ways i continue to screw up my credit (despite making more money than ever), but that's for a rainy day.
